Why is my skin dry if i moisturize

Why is my skin so dry even when i moisturize it? Why my face feels tight ? How many times we ask ourselves this questions. We moisturize all the time, and it’s still dry. We’ll tell you all the reasons. It will be a little difficult to figure it out, but it’s definitely worth it. And, as for all good things, it takes a little time. Don’t be afraid, we’ll help you. If anything, write your questions down below.

It is important to know that the reason why you feel the tightness of the skin, its dryness, why you see exfoliation – this is dehydration. Dehydration is not a type of skin, but a problem. And dehydrated can be any type of skin: dry, normal, combined and even oily! Despite the general opinion moisturization is not enough for skin not been dry, for its hydration. If you moisturize your skin but it doesn’t help and your skin feeling tight, you need to establish the ENTIRE chain of care. Namely – cleansing, toning and moistening. Only by setting up this entire chain will it be possible to achieve hydrated skin. Let’s go through all the stages of the skincare.

SKIN CLEANSING

We know it sounds weird, but the moisturization of your skin depends on the correct cleansing of the skin very much. For example, if you are not actively cleaning the skin, the sebum covers your skin with film and prevents it from breathing. If you clean the skin too actively, you will destroy the protective layer of the skin and it will begin to dry. It is important to find a balance exactly for your skin type. And we will help you here.

You dont have any face cleanser

Firstly, you do not need to wash the skin only with water. To properly clean the skin, you need to use facial skin washers. Please do not use soap or shower gel instead of a washers. They are too hard for the skin of the face. So that is why soap and shower gel can dry the skin of the face.

You only have one face wash

Yeah, you heard it right. For properly skin cleansing, it is better to have two different washers and alternate them in the morning and evening.

You very rarely wash your face with face cleansers

Wash your face with washing aids twice a day: in the morning and in the evening. In the morning – in order to clean the skin from excess sebum, which stands out while you sleep. In the evening – to qualitatively remove the dirt that has accumulated all day.

Wrong washers

There are two categories of face cleansers: “hard” and “soft”. Depending on the type of skin, you need to select different means for washing. For example, oily skin requires two “hard” face washers. For combined – one “hard” face washer and one “soft” face washer. For normal skin, as well: one “hard” face washer and one “soft” face washer. For dry skin – two soft cleansers.

What are the  “hard” and “softface washers? Let’s see. Skin cleansing is the responsibility of the surfactants that form part of the face washers. Simply put, these are ingredients that create foam. They are responsible for the high-quality and correct cleansing of the skin. Yeah, it’s not natural substances, it’s chemicals. But dont be afraid, they will not harm your health. Try to make friends with them. Unfortunately, surfactants cannot be replaced by natural substances. In this way, it is impossible to clean the skin well with homemade face washers or just water.

So, there are hard and soft surfactants. If you do not know what kind of specific surfactant to include, ask Google, he will definitely tell). Disassemble the entire composition of yourface washer. How many hard surfactants are there? How many soft ones? If there are no more than three hard surfactants, then you have a “soft” face washer. If there are three to five hard surfactants, then you have in your hands a “hard” face washer. If there are more than five hard surfactants in your face washer, we do not recommend using it, as it will be too aggressive and will dry the skin of the face. That is, the more hard surfactants are in your face washer, the more aggressive and harder it becomes.

This is important, because if you have oily skin and use only “soft” washers, then your skin will not clean enough from sebum. Excess sebum will clog your pores, will not let the skin to breath, and because of that the skin will become dry. At the end of the article we give some of the most popular types of hard surfactants.

So, it is the most difficult, but very important part. Deal with this issue and your skin will begin to clean properly.

SKIN TONING

Do you use tonic?

There is one more reason, why your face feels tight . Do you use tonic? It is important product to fight the dry skin. Its most important function is to return the skin to a normal Ph level. Have you ever noticed that after showering or washing the skin with water, the skin becomes dry and tightened? Don’t you feel dry face after shower ?This is precisely because of contact with water. The Ph level decreases and the skin becomes dry. To return the skin to Ph, use the tonic after contact with the water.

By the way, this trick works very well for dry skin of hands. For example, after washing your hands, apply tonic first, and then cream. So you get even more moisturizing effect.

Use tonic after each contact with water

Use tonics not only in the morning and in the evening after washing, but after EACH contact of your  skin face with water. Have you decided to freshen up and wash your face throughout the day? Apply tonic! Did you swim in the pool? Apply tonic! Do you have dry skin after shower ? Apply tonic.  Return the skin to normal Ph levels. It’s so easy and takes only a minute, but your skin will thank you.

Use two different tonics

Just as with facial cleansers, it is important that you have two different tonics: one with a matting or cleansing effect and one with a moisturizing effect. Remember, balance is everything! Alternate these two tonics in the morning and evening. Use them on a dry face after washing with a facial wash. If during the day you decided to refresh and wash your face, then be sure to apply either of the two tonics after contact with the water.

Composition of tonic.

Unfortunately, there are many bad tonics on the market. In order to find a tonic that will work well, check its composition. There’s nothing difficult here. Just a few rules.

  • Firstly, at the first five positions there should be no alcohol in the composition of the tonic. It is referred to as “alcohol” or “ethyl.” Alcohol derivatives can be, they are not scary. For example, it is “alcohol denat.”
  • Secondly, at the first five positions of the composition of the tonic there should not be a component such as PEG-40. In large quantities, it affects the skin poorly. Be careful.
  • Thirdly, the first five positions of the tonic should not have natural and essential oils. Yes, yes, we know that many people really like to use oils. Nevertheless, believe me, they are not as good as they seem. Oil clog pores and create a film on the surface of the skin, because of which it cannot breathe and becomes dry.

Why do these rules apply only to the first five items on the list? Because the closer the component is to the top of the list, the more it is in the product.

CREAM

Balance

As you have already guessed, you should have two different creams. One matting, the other moisturizing. Use one of them in the morning, the other one – in the evening. If you use only matting cream, then the skin will not receive enough moisturization. If you use only moisturizing cream, then the sebaceous glands will work too actively.

This is the main paradox. Cleaning and matting are very important so that the skin is not dry. It seems that if you do not mat the skin, then the sebaceous glands will release sebum and the skin will cease to be dry. But it DOES NOT REALLY WORK. If you do not clean the sebum with good cleansing and do not regulate the work of the sebaceous glands, then the sebum will pour pores and create a film on the surface of the skin, because of which the skin will dry. Have you never seen cases when the skin is oily, but also with peeling at the same time? Have your skin feels tight but oily at the same time?

Composition of the cream

The composition of the cream is also very important.

  • Firstly, at the first three positions, the cream should not contain silicone or dimethicone. Why? They, like oil, make a film on the skin.
  • Secondly, there should be no “alcohol” or “ethyl” in the first five positions. If they are in the first five positions, it means that their amount in the cream is quite high, which means that they will dry the skin. If they are after the fifth position, then there is nothing wrong with this. Alcohol derivatives (e.g., alcohol denate) may be at any position.
  • Thirdly, in the first five positions there should be no natural and essential oils. We think you already know why)

SEVERAL MORE CAUSES OF DRY SKIN.

Take off your makeup correctly

We know that someone like to remove makeup with soap, or a facial wash. That’s not right. To remove makeup, you need to use special to makeup remover. For example, a milk for removing  makeup. It’ll take off your makeup the best. If you do not use special makeup removers, then invisible remains of makeup, silicones and oils from cosmetics will remain on your skin, from which it will begin to dry.

Some people prefer to use micelle water to remove makeup. We don’t recommend using it. Micelles are very small particles of surfactants. However, which ones are unknown, manufacturers do not write this in the composition. Therefore, the concept of micelles is very vague and behind it lies unclear components. Accordingly, we cannot fully test the entire composition of micelle water and decide whether it is safe for the skin. Still, if you decided to use peace water, be sure to wash it off your face. Imagine that you will sleep with the rest of the detergent on your face!

We also do not recommend using hydrophilic oil as a makeup release. It’s pure oil! You can use it once, to remove especially persistent make-up, but not for every day. Yes, there are also oils in the makeup milk, but their number is much smaller. And after using milk, you wash your face with a face cleanser, that is, remove the rest of the oil on your face.

By the way, if you accidentally do not have a makeup removal tool nearby, you can find several recipes on how to make a makeup remover by yourself. Yet, it is more a one-time remedy, for everyday use, it is better to buy a makeup remover.

Be careful of oils

We do not recommend using oils for your skin care, especially pure oil. It will create a film on the surface of the skin, because of which the skin will not be able to breathe and will begin to dry. Because the skin begins to dry, the sebaceous glands begin to work more actively to make up for the lack of moisture in the skin. When the sebaceous glands begin to rage, pores clog, rashes appear. Thus, you use oil in the hope of moisturizing the skin, and eventually get rashes, comedones, black dots and in addition to all this, dry skin does not pass.

Facemasks

Balance is also important here. If you have dry skin, make a moisturizing mask twice a week and cleansing – once a week. If you have normal skin, make a moisturizing and cleansing mask once a week. For combined – twice a week moisturizing and once a week cleansing mask. For oily skin – twice a week cleansing and once – moisturizing mask.

Conclusions.

Here we described the whole kidney of the main facial skin care: cleansing, toning, moisturizing. At your request, you can add several more stages to this chain: exfoliation, the use of serums, sunscreen.

It doesn’t matter: you have dry skin in summer  or all the year. In order to remove dehydration of the skin, one cream is not enough. It is important to establish exactly the entire chain of skin care, find the balance between cleansing and moisturizing that suits your skin type. Without good cleansing, good moisturizing is impossible.

It is also very important to pay attention to the composition of the means that you use. Be careful with alcohols, oils, silicones and “hard” surfactants. Take a little time, study the composition and find good remedies for your skin. It worth it.

When you establish a chain of care, not only dehydration will go away, but also dim complexion, comedones, rashes will pass, black dots will clear.

Good results take time. After you have established the entire care chain, it will be 2-6 months before you see the result. We warn you that if you have comedones on your skin (these are such subcutaneous rashes), then during these 2-6 months the skin will clean herself. Comedones will begin to go out in the form of rashes with white pus. This is normal, it means that the skin cleans up.

“Hard” surfactants

Hi there. Everything is described in great detail in the article. Previously, little attention was paid to skin cleansing. I’ll try everything as it is written here. And I know that you need to drink a lot of water.
